Berkswich Parish Council lies within Cannock Chase National Landscape (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty have been renamed National Landscapes).
The Cannock Chase National Landscape covers 26 square miles (69 square kms) of unspoilt heath, forests, wetlands and farmland that is so special and beautiful that it has been protected in the national interest since 1958. The area is looked after by a partnership of local authorities, agencies, landowners, community groups and other interested parties working together, and steered by their statutory Management Plan 2025-2030. We can all help to keep Cannock Chase special, and here are some ways that you can get involved:
Volunteering – You could volunteer with the National Landscape on one of their projects, or with one of their partners.
Landowners – If you own land in the area they can offer grants to support activities that help nature recovery, tackle climate change, improve access or enhance the landscape.
Community groups – They can offer funding for projects and activities that support the National Landscape.
Residents – You can help by following the Cannock Chase Code when out and about on the National Landscape.
Young people – Become a future Guardian of Cannock Chase with the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, Scouts or Girl Guides.
